They are members of The Congregation of Notre Dame de Sion founded by Theodore Ratisbonne in 1847 in Paris , France – a Congregation that quickly established branches throughout the world , to the extent that now there are Sisters of Sion in twenty-one Countries.

Their long presence in Ein Kerem can only be understood through the vital link to the Holy Land formed for the Congregation of Notre Dame de Sion by the compelling character of Alphonse Ratisbonne. In turn , his dreams were only achieved through the commitment of the Sisters to attain the goals he set.

The men and women religious of Notre Dame de Sion ” witness by their life to God’s faithful love for the Jewish people and God’s fidelity to the promises he revealed to the patriarchs and prophets of Israel for all humanity ” .
